sabudana vada


  • 1 cup Sabudana (Sago)
  • 3 medium sized boiled potatoes
  • 2 or 3 green chillies finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup roasted peanuts powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt or Sendha namak to taste


  1. Wash and soak sabudana in enough water for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Take a bowl add sabudana, roasted peanuts powder, green chillies, coriander leaves, sugar, cumin seeds and salt into it.
  3. Mix all ingredients very well.
  4. Now take boiled potatoes peel and grate them. Add into the bowl.
  5. Now mix everything together very well.
  6. Make medium sized balls from the dough and shape them like flat cutlet. Apply oil on palms if it is too sticky.
  7. Heat oil in deep frying pan or kadai.
  8. Deep fry sabudana vada in hot oil until golden brown from both sides.
  9. Take them out from a pan and place on paper napkins.
  10. Serve them hot with yoghurt or with peanuts chutney.
